2. First Tropical Peatland Roundtable: Establishing Responsible Management of Tropical Peatland –jointly organized by the IPS, the BRG and the JPS. Tropical Peatland Roundtable released ‘Jakarta Declaration’ with five pillars:

Establish a ‘tropical peatland centre’
Organize an ‘international committee for technical consultation’
Develop an ‘integrated monitoring system’
Organize a ‘model project’ for responsible management
Achieve capacity building

The ‘Jakarta Declaration’ has become one of indicators for establishing and international tropical peatland centre (tentative) in Indonesia, which will promote capacity building at a domestic and foreign level.
