This Technical Regional Forum by JTP Groundwork and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment in Finland explores how peat-dependent regions in the Baltic Sea Region can navigate the just transition and use available support from the Just Transition Fund. The event brings together stakeholders including representatives of the European Commission, researchers, project promoters, and regional and national authorities.
Participants will exchange experiences and practical strategies to transform peat-dependent regions into sustainable and diversified economies. Discussions focus on skills development, cooperation between communities, education and businesses, and creating new job opportunities. Sessions will also examine emerging value chains such as nature-based solutions, paludiculture, eco-tourism and bio-based materials.
