Summary:

The paper presents the results of thermal diffusivity estimation in peat soil using two methods: amplitude equa- tion and non-steady state single probe technique. The performed study showed that the water content did not significantly influence on the soil thermal diffusivity. Application of the two different methods for the volu- metric soil water content ranging from 50 to 70 % gave comparable results of thermal diffusivity for the peat soil surface layer.
