Ms Warnecke was born in 1975 and grew up in Germany until she moved to Finland as an exchange student to study Global Business Management in 1999, and again when she started her career as Communications Assistant for the IPS in early 2002. She holds German degrees of Diplom-Kaufmann (FH) and Bankkaufmann and has long-term experience in event management, communications, stakeholder engagement and marketing, among others at Nokia Ltd.

“I look forward to cooperating intensively with all IPS members, those who investigate and restore peatlands as well as those who use peat to grow plants, flowers and vegetables. It is of utmost importance to understand these fragile ecosystems and their importance for climate – but we must not forget that peat and peatlands also provide livelihoods and income for many people all around the world. Balance is important” states the new Secretary General.

The IPS Secretariat has been located in Jyväskylä, Central Finland since the early 1990s. Ms Warnecke can be reached as previously via susann.warnecke (at) and +358 40 418 4075,
